My Philosophy.
I believe that how we look at something is important. It isn’t as much about what we’re seeing, but rather how we’re perceiving it since that determines how we experience it. This is the power of our Mind (“Mind over matter”).
I like to challenge my thinking and open up to new ideas, and through this I’ve found that a lot of what I’ve been told isn’t true, or at least not how I’ve personally experienced it.
And from what I see, how we approach modern health and wellness is very limited, and in some ways, more harmful. Despite all of our ‘advanced healthcare’, we seem to be more sick and disconnected than ever, so then where are we going wrong? I believe we’re getting too lost in the details, able to dissect and isolate parts, while losing sight of how they all fit into the big picture, not taking into consideration the whole. This is what is meant by the term, “holistic”:

Rather than isolating, it’s about connecting parts, seeing that everything relates to each other and the importance of multi-disciplinary approaches that may be outside the “norm”. We need to starting looking at our mental, emotional, physical & spiritual health as interconnected. What we think, how we feel, our environments, relationships, and what we believe affect who we think we are. To be whole is to be cohesive, which is to understand that everything has to work together, including our mind & body. Nothing is separate. But how do we start relating all of these seemingly disconnected parts together? How can we move away from “experts” and “specialists”, and move closer towards more Self understanding? This is what I hope to explore, and at least for me personally, I’ve found that this visual analogy has provided a great foundation to help tie it all together:
“Everyone is a house with 4 rooms…”
“…a physical, a mental, an emotional, and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.” – Rumer Godden

I believe our ability to feel “at Home” in Life is connected to our ability to understand and make peace with each of these rooms in the house. When they are brought into balance, we can then just “Be” our true Self without thinking, but for most of us, we’ve become lost and may need some guidance so that we can remember that we’ve always been whole, even if we don’t fully see it just yet.
Mental.
The thoughts we think, the perspectives we have and the beliefs we hold all affect how we see our Self and how we fit into the world. We can understand life in so many ways, but the test is, is it functional? Or better yet, is it actually true? So if you don’t like what you see, are you willing to change how you see it?
Physical.
How we treat our body, what foods we eat, the exercise we get and the relationship we have to the physical aspects of life all affect how we show up in the world. Can you strongly stand on your own two feet, firm in who you are?
Emotional.
Emotions can be overwhelming if we don’t understand or know how to process them. They are what help us feel connected to life, but if not kept in check, they can overflow or rot the foundations of our Home. Can you emotionally self-regulate? What is your emotional IQ?
Spiritual.
Often we can get distracted or confused by the world, getting pulled in so many different directions, so if we don’t have a spiritual anchor, a North Star to guide us, we can easily veer off course. We need not just depth, but expansion in our lives. Do you know who you are really, and the purpose you’re moving towards?
